LFB Rural Rescue
Our specialist rural units and trained firefighters can respond to more unique calls. This can range from bush fires to farm related incidents.
The specialist units are designed to reach areas a normal fire truck wouldn't reach. This service allows us to continue to make not only London a safer city but its rural surroundings.
The rural fire units are a group of specialist vehicles and equipment made available within LFB. These vehicles range from the L200 to the ERPA. The specialist rural units and trained firefighters can respond to more unique calls. This can range from bush fires to farm related incidents. Not only this but the rural units can assist other emergency services such as the police and the ambulance service.
The equipment they carry allows firefighters to deal with these tricky situations. The specialist vehicles are designed to reach areas a normal fire truck wouldn't reach. This service allows us to continue to make not only London a safer city but its rural surroundings.
What can you get up to when deployed as Rural Rescue?:
- Offroad fires and rescues where it would be impractical for a normal fire engine to reach
- Farm related incidents which may require specialist equipment and tools
- Adverse weather situations which include snow and flooding
Rural Rescue Entry requirements:
Currently, the rural units are available to all LFB firefighters in order for them to deal with these unique calls and emergency situations.
There are 2 main requirements for the use of Rural, these are:
- Completed EFAD training (this is completed on initial training)
- Completed and passed your LFB probation
