2x males point a gun at the fire brigade
Today, the LFB (London Fire Brigade) was threatened by two men on bicycles. One of the men displayed a handgun during the encounter. Armed Firearms Officer (AFO) initiated a pursuit after the two men on the bike, following a failed attempt to stop them. The chase continued for a short while, with the officers trying to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. The pursuit ended when the suspects lost control of the bike and fell off. During this, the driver got up, and brandished some form of SMG and shot towards officers leading one officer in a critical condition. Armed police reacted swiftly, and took down the active threat.
The second individual involved in the incident fled the scene following the shooting. He managed to evade capture for a short time but later encountered three police officers. During this confrontation, he assaulted all three officers with a bladed weapon before being apprehended. The officers were treated for their injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The NHS was promptly alerted to the scene following the violent altercation. Due to the critical nature of the injuries sustained, both the suspects and the three injured officers were quickly extracted from the immediate area. They were transported by emergency response teams to a local hospital in Islington, where they received urgent medical attention.
Around seven minutes after the extraction, NHS medical crews, including paramedics and HEMS units, arrived at the scene. The HEMS units, equipped with highly trained medical personnel, assisted in treating any remaining casualties and ensuring that the area was secured for further investigation.
The scene was cordoned off, and detectives began conducting a thorough investigation into the events leading up to the shooting and the subsequent assault on the officers. The hospital in Islington, where the injured were taken, is currently under heightened security while treatment continues, and authorities are working closely with medical staff to ensure that the recovery of the injured officers is carefully monitored.
Investigators are also looking into any possible connections between the individuals involved and whether the events may be part of a wider criminal operation. The entire situation is still under active investigation, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
Statement from NHS Operation Manger (OM2) Nicola:
At 20:10 on the 18th of February, LAS, HEMS, and HART crews were dispatched in response to a CTSFO-led firearms incident. The operation, which was ongoing in a high-risk environment, required immediate medical support due to the severity of the situation. Upon arrival, the crews were met with two officers who were in cardiac arrest, as well as a suspect who was in urgent need of medical attention.
The officers, who had sustained critical injuries during the incident, were being attended to by other emergency responders at the scene. With assistance from medically trained officers present, advanced life support measures were quickly implemented, resulting in the successful return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) for all three patients. Immediate interventions, including chest compressions and advanced airway management, were carried out in an effort to stabilize the individuals.
Once ROSC was achieved, all patients were stabilized on-site and carefully prepared for transport. They were then transferred to the nearest hospital, where they were handed over to the hospital's medical teams for further assessment and observation.
