Helicopter Crash in Central London Sparks Major Incident
At 22:30 Hrs on Saturday, the 30th of December a Major Incident was declared after a Mayday Call was received from Helimed 27 and Crash landed in Central London. Members of the MET Police who were first on the scene acted quickly to seal off the area and provide Basic life-saving treatments to those they could. London's Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene with HART Paramedics and FRU Firefighters working swiftly to extract the Crew of the Helimed. While Paramedics assisted by ground crews of HEMS started work on patients. LFB's Primary focus then shifted towards the petrol station less than 25m away from the crash scene, ensuring that the fuel leak from the helicopter did not ignite, taking the Petrol station with it. Crews Worked through the night until approximately 7am until they were eventually stood down. The area is still closed for a Technical investigation by Forensic Crews and SCIU Crews.
