At approximately 22:30 on May 18, 2024, a helicopter crash occurred, resulting in a significant chemical fire. The incident involved a commercial helicopter transporting three contractors between meetings, a veteran pilot was reported to have suffered a seizure mid flight, which resulted in an emergency landing and collision with a freight train carrying hazardous chemicals. The crash led to a major fire, necessitating an extensive response from the fire services and London Ambulance Service, Including the Hazardous Area Response Team & Helicopter Emergency Service who sent two Helimed to the Scene.
