A stretch of the M25 between junctions 12 and 13 were closed for approximately 3 hours whilst roads teams from London City Council alongside National Highways attended to the large oil spill.

The spill was eventually cleared up and roads re-opened at 22:30.

A spokeperson from the MET Police had this to say at the time of the incident.

"It's unfortunate to hear about the oil spill and the resulting delays on junction 12 of the M25. Safety is of utmost importance, and it's good to know that the authorities are taking swift action to clean up the spill. If you are currently on the road, it would be best to follow the advice and avoid junction 12 altogether. Consider using alternative routes or delaying your journey if possible. Stay tuned to local traffic updates for any further information or changes regarding the clean-up progress and estimated completion time."
