Major Aircraft Collision Prompts Major Response
At approximately 16:45, 1st August 2025, a significant number of 999 calls were received by the control rooms in relation to an aviation incident.
An aircraft & helicopter had collided, triggering a large multi-agency deployment to the incident from the NHS, LFB & MET Police.
As of 17:30, emergency services began to leave the scene. Road closures are still in place with fire crews still on scene at this time. All flights due to arrive are being diverted to London Gatwick Airport.
NHS IC - TL4 Aids Statement On the 1st of August the London Heath Service was called out to 999 reports of an aviation related incident. LHS Call Rooms tasked 4 Box Ambulances, 2 HEMS Crews: Consisting of 2x Critical Care Paramedics and 1x Critical Care Doctor & 1 Clinical team Leader. Colleagues from the Hazardous Area Response Team were also deployed to the call.
Upon arriving on scene it was clear that two aircraft had collided mid air causing there to be two crash sites, requiring resources to be split. LHS tended to 6 Casualties, unfortunately due to the nature of the incident there were four people who succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene. 2 Casualties were transported to the nearest major trauma centre.
