Major Fire at Chemical Warehouse, Canary Wharf
A major fire has broken out at a chemical storage warehouse in Canary Wharf, trapping several people and prompting a full emergency response from LFB, LAS, HART, and HEMS.
The fire started just after 19:30 pm. near the south of the industrial estate , sending toxic smoke across the area. Loud explosions were reported, with flammable chemicals fuelling the blaze.
Over 80 firefighters are tackling the flames. We are currently unsure how many people have been trapped in total and how severe injuries are due to this incident still on-going.
Residents and workers nearby are urged to stay indoors and keep windows closed. Roads around the area have been closed off by the MET Police.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Authorities warn the situation remains dangerous and evolving. (edited)
