On the night of January 31st, MVET officers received credible intelligence regarding a large-scale drug shipment that was set to move through London's road network. The vehicle in question was reportedly carrying illicit substances and was identified as a grey BMW M3 with the vehicle registration number M333 BAD. This car was tracked to a petrol station, where a joint operation between marked and unmarked police vehicles was quickly mobilised.

Initially, our pre-emptive tactics aimed at intercepting the vehicle on-site failed. The suspect, later identified as Ronnie Grey, attempted to evade capture, accelerating to speeds of approximately 80mph as he fled the scene. A high-speed pursuit ensued, lasting about 40 minutes with a top speed of 120mph, during which officers from various units coordinated to block the vehicle's path.

The suspect finally brought the BMW M3 to a halt when officers managed to box the vehicle in within an alleyway in the Grove Street area. At this point, the suspect decamped from the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, scaling a low-level garage roof.

Officers pursued the suspect onto the roof, where he became increasingly aggressive, attempting to push one of the officers off the edge. In response to the escalating situation, a Taser was deployed, successfully incapacitating the suspect. He lost his balance and rolled off the side of the roof, sustaining minor injuries.

Medical personnel arrived on scene promptly to administer first aid. After his recovery, officers were able to confirm the suspect’s identity as Ronnie Grey. Further investigation revealed that the BMW M3 he was driving had been reported as belonging to an individual named Tyrell Greene. A PNC (Police National Computer) check on Ronnie Grey revealed that he suffers from schizophrenia and resides at 426 Mirror Park with his current partner. He also had a history with his ex-girlfriend, who previously lived at 410 Mirror Park, and he is currently the owner of a property at 3022.

Planned Raid:

Following the discovery of the property at 3022, MVET officers, in coordination with other specialized units, planned a targeted raid on the address. The operation was carried out just after midnight on January 31st, using the "Big Red Key" – a tactical approach designed for maximum impact during such high-risk entries. The plan involved simultaneous entry through both the front and rear doors of the property.

Upon entry, officers encountered two male suspects inside the house, both armed with axes. The suspects immediately charged at officers, but the situation was swiftly contained. Thanks to the effectiveness of the Axon Taser model X10, which is standard-issue for MVET officers; both individuals were successfully subdued without further incident.

The raid was assisted by the City of London Police’s specialist unit, Titan. Titan, or the Targeted Intercept & Tactical ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Unit, is dedicated to making the roads of the City of London a hostile environment for offenders, focusing on tackling Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) and safeguarding vulnerable individuals from harm.

Outcome:

Both suspects were arrested and charged accordingly. Their names and further details will be released in due course as the investigation continues. Thanks to the swift response from MVET, and the Titan Unit, the operation was a success, ensuring that dangerous individuals were taken off the streets and further criminal activity was disrupted.
