Police Raid Bungalow After Reports of Strong Cannabis Smell in Postal 185

Reports were received from a member of the public regarding a strong smell of cannabis coming from a bungalow along a residential road in Postal 185. Officers from the Territorial Support Group (TSG) arrived at the scene but staged up around the corner to remain out of sight.
Detectives from CID then entered the local area undercover, posing as members of the public searching for a lost dog. They knocked on nearby houses with the aim of determining whether anyone was inside the target address.
Following these observations, the Magistrates’ Court authorised a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) warrant for the address. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) was also deployed overhead, providing ground officers with live updates on movement around the property and additional intelligence.
Once the warrant had been signed and undercover officers confirmed that the timing was optimal, TSG officers executed a rapid entry on the property using an enforcer (“big red key”). Three residents, caught completely off guard, were swiftly apprehended. One reportedly exclaimed, “Well, we’re f*cked,” as officers restrained and handcuffed him.
After the property was secured and confirmed clear, all residents were detained. CID and DSU officers immediately commenced a thorough search of the premises, utilising specialist equipment to identify and recover evidence.
Items seized from the address included mobile phones, electronic devices, and multiple cannabis plants.
Police remain satisfied that this operation has successfully disrupted local drug-related activity, and the investigation continues.
