Underground Station Blaze Shakes Commuters
Commuters were left in shock as a London Underground station was engulfed in flames. The fire broke out at approximately 20:00 on Thursday 19th December 2024, tragically claiming one life. Emergency services received the first 999 call shortly after the blaze began, sparking an emergency response from the LFB that saw 1x Breathing Apparatus Support Unit, 1x Fire Rescue Unit, and 3x Pump Appliances.
Speaking to the media, the 999 caller described the scene, saying, “It’s bad, extremely bad. I feel like the London Underground is going to collapse.” Authorities have also confirmed that another traveller sustained injuries in the incident, while a firefighter had to be taken to hospital for treatment. Emergency services are continuing to provide support and care to those affected. We were able to get a statement from a Police spokesperson and he stated “We know that there is quite a large fire, the alarm was raised and the station was evacuated. We are just doing what we can”
The authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. Fire crews and CID detectives are working alongside transport officials to examine the scene and gather evidence.
