DVST
DVST is the Driver and Vehicle Safety Team. The DVST is made up of a multitude of different aims when it comes to drivers, vehicles and their standards. Below are a few of the things DVSA gets up to on a day to day basis:
- Approval of new driving instructors and new MOT testers
- Carry out driving tests before issuing a licence
- Carry out tests to ensure lorries and buses are safe to drive
- Carry out roadside safety checks on vehicles such as lorries, buses and cars
- Carry out roadside safety checks on drivers and their vehicles
We can utilise DVST in many ways on the server. We should utilise DVST with cross division work by working in collaboration with RTPC's Commercial Enforcement (CE) team.
Below are a list of different scenarios where we can utilise DVST:
- Motorway checkpoints (Primarily HGV/Buses)
- Other vehicle checkpoints (Primarily cars)
- Commercial Enforcement (in line with RTPC CE)
- Stop vehicles with no MOT or Tax
How can we work with RTPC CE? Working with RTPC and their Commercial Enforcement Team enables us to crack down on illegal drivers, drunk drivers and unroadworthy vehicles within the Commercial Sector.
Our aim is to remove all unroadworthy vehicles which are below testing standards. We can also audit the taco of a driver and ensure they are within the Working Time Directive and Driving Time Directive. When RTPC CE are active on the motorways, they will request DVST to assist if needed.
